One Photograph - Series 1
(Women in their land)

The 'Bombin' (bowler hat) was introduced during the 1920's when it was brought to Bolivia by the British rail workers. It remains the traditional dress for the Quechua woman alongside her vibrant, layered 'pollera' (skirt).

A series inspired by the strength and dignity of the Quechua women and their intrinsic relationship to their environment. Often living in high altitudes and minus temperatures, these women work the land and are the anchor to their families.
